报告简介：
We study how two dimensions of reputation (i.e., generalized favorability and being known) and attribution of crisis responsibility affect firm value at the onset of a crisis. Analyzing 126 corporate crises in 2008–2014 befalling publicly listed firms in China, we find that generalized favorability serves as a buffer, while being known can be a burden, in influencing firm value. We also find that the buffering effect of generalized favorability is stronger when the attribution of crisis responsibility is low (vs. high). In addition, there is a negative interaction effect between the two dimensions of reputation such that the buffering effect of generalized favorability weakens when firms are better known. We discuss our contributions to research on corporate reputation and crisis management.
报告人简介：
魏玖长，博士、教授、博士生导师。中国科学技术大学管理学院教授，火灾科学国家重点实验室双聘教授。2009年入选教育部“新世纪优秀人才支持计划”入选，2013年入选中国科学院青年创新促进会会员（中科院青年人才项目），2015年获得国家自然基金优秀青年科学基金项目支持、2016年荣获高等学校科学研究优秀成果奖自然科学奖一等奖。兼任清华大学中国应急管理研究基地兼职研究员，中国应急管理学会理事。自2015年起担任国际期刊Chinese Management Studies（SSCI）的编委和Journal of Public Health Management and Ethics (IJPHME)的编委。
近年来，主持国家自然基金优秀青年科学基金项目、国家自然基金面上项目及青年项目、国家社会科学基金项目、国家自然基金重大项目子课题、国家社科基金重大项目子课题等国家级基础研究项目8项，主持其他省部级等项目10余项。担任安徽省重大固定资产投资项目社会风险评估专家，并为多个企业及政府部门做过培训讲座。在《Strategic Management Journal》、《Disasters》、《Risk Analysis》、《Safety Science》、《Journal of the American Society for Information Science and Technology》、《Journal of Informetrics》、《Transportation Research Part D》、《Public Relations Review》、《中国软科学》、《中国应急管理》等国内外知名刊物发表或接受发表论文70余篇，国内外引用已达500余次。所发表的论文中，以第一或通讯作者接受或发表SSCI/SCI论文38篇（其中SSCI检索26篇，SCI检索16篇，共同检索5篇）。出版专著1本。自主开发的案例“Hefei Xingtai Holding Group: Risk Management”入选加拿大IVEY案例库。
担任教育部学位与研究生教育发展中心评阅专家，以及国家自然基金委、《Disasters》、《Journal of Environmental Management》、《Journal of Cleaner Production》、《Scientometrics》、《International Journal of Information Management》、《Journal of Contemporary China (JCC)》、《Journal of Media Economics》、《Human and Ecological Risk Assessment》、《IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man and Cybernetics: Systems》、《Chinese Management Studies》、《Energy & Environment》、《Environmental Practice》的审稿人。
